Angels of War - TV Pilot

American Nurses stationed in the South Pacific, must struggle to save as many lives as possible - including their own - when they are caught behind enemy lines during WWII. (Comps: Band of Brothers meets Call The Midwife).

What People Are Saying:

“ANGELS OF WAR is one of the best television episode/pilots I have ever read—and I mean that.

From the very beginning until the ending of the script I was captivated and riveted with the story and the characters. You have written a meaningful and important story about a group of people who have not had the recognition they deserve: the nurses who tended the wounded behind enemy lines during the Pacific War of World War Two. You honor those nurses with this story.”

— Launch Pad Competition, 2020

ANGELS OF WAR has so many strong elements, with tension emanating from many sources, personal and on a life and death level. They know the Japanese are advancing in Asia. As a modern audience, we know Pearl Harbor will soon be attacked. The story is female-led, focused on the character journeys and hopes and dreams of the women, and giving us a different perspective on life on the battlefront. The period and physical settings allow us to explore the origins of sexism as well as issues around ethnic prejudice. The pilot effectively evokes the different women’s perspectives - including the excited naïveté with which some of them approach going to war.

Cutting to the chase, ANGELS OF WAR is a stellar TV pilot and it offers to breathe some fresh life into the arguably stale genre of medical dramas.  The idyllic setting, the inherent drama and conflict of being in a war zone and a hospital, coupled with the largely all-female cast lends these pages significant appeal.
